Champion Nutrition Signs 2 MMA Fighters
August 20, 2008

Since being acquired in February by supplement manufacturing giant Nature’s Products , the 25-year old company Champion Nutrition has attempted to get back into the supplement war again. You’ve likely seen their new ads in bodybuilding magazines and their presence at various bodybuilding shows etc. I’ve gotta admit that the Supplement Genius has always had a soft spot for Champion Nutrition. I used to live off their Heavyweight Gainer 900 product while I was at Ryerson University completing my Nutrition degree. Mark Gilbert (the top supplement genius over in the U.K.) was my room mate at the time and thought I was nuts for drinking so much of the stuff! The taste was outstanding which is crucial when it comes to a gainer,
a key point that most companies miss these days. With the exception of PVL’s Mutant Mass (ya the one in the HUGE 15-pound bag!) or Cytomax’s Cytogainer , I’v
e tasted few of today’s gainers that are delicious. Champion Nutrition has forged ahead and put out a few new products in hopes of getting back in the game and have also expanded their athlete roster. This week they announced the signing of two mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters: Thiago “Pitbull” Alves and Mike Brown.
“By signing Mike Brown and Pitbull to sponsorship contracts we are supporting the fighters, their ATT Team and the sport of MMA in South Florida, ” says, Mark Post, President of Champion. “Mixed martial arts has been steadily gaining popularity but has never received more attention than it does today and by having Pitbull and Mike Brown represent Champion they will help us bring the Champion Nutrition brand to more MMA fans, ” says Post.
Thiago “Pitbull” Alves has a record of 21-4 and is currently the #3 ranked Welterweight in the UFC. He is one of the fastest rising contenders in the UFC with his recent success winning six consecutive fights decisively.
Mike Brown has a record of 19-4 is the current #1 Lightweight Contender in the WEC. Brown will fight for the title against current WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL September 10th.
Champion Nutrition is now a Sunrise, Florida based marketer and manufacturer of performance-based sports nutrition products. Champion maintains its own 135,000 square-foot manufacturing facility. Currently in their 25th year, Champion’s attention to product formulation, quality, and taste have kept it as one of the most well-respected sports nutrition companies in the industr y.
