6-OXO Contains Andro

March 26, 2009

I often surf a “controversial” but very informative Blog called “Anthony Roberts Online” which is written by a fellow named Anthony Roberts (obviously!). Anthony as well as really cool guy named MIllard Baker are both always on top of the world of anabolics and their use. Lately, many supplement companies have been caught selling various hormones and other drugs hidden in their formulas. On a recent post on Anthony’s Blog, he pointed out that supplement company “ErgoPharm” makers of 6-OXO and 6-OXO Extreme are producing dietary supplements containing banned substances, namely the prohormones known as “Andro”. According to FOX:

” We tested two over the counter dietary supplements to see if they contain steroids. They’re called 6-OXO and 6-OXO Extreme. They’re used by athletes including bodybuilders. The lab results show both products contain androstenedione, which is on the list of illegal steroids…”

This would be consistent with Major League Baseball’s findings, regarding 6-OXO, and wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen supplements from ErgoPharm that contain banned substances. ErgoPharm always tries to push the edge but this is what’s made them popular with a certain segment of shoppers.

Almost certainly this was a false positive on the drug test. It would be extremely risky and foolish for Arnold to put andro in 6 oxo. It’s just a metabolite of 6 oxo that appears as andro on a drug test. I think Dr Mauro Di Pasqale wrote about this recently.

BTW Anothy Roberts is a just vile working class psycho drug addict. What are you listening to him for ?

the fact that fox did not make the data that they obtained from the company doing the test suggests that fox is just doing sensational journalism. 6-oxo differs from androstenedione by one carbon double bond. This one difference can mean a huge biological change. For example 6-oxo is produced in sheep intestine naturally but in the human body it blocks aromatase, the enzyme that changes testosterone into estrogen. therefore it is not a steroid because while it has chemical structure similar to testosterone it does not directly cause any anabolic effects. a blanket ban on any chemical that is chemically similar to testosterone would mean we would need to ban estrogens, progesterone, aldosterone, and products that contain plant phenols that are similar to testosterone like soy which contains many phyto-estrogens. that also does not include any animal product that contains hormones because they naturally produce them. therefore if you eat more meat you are going to take in the hormones that those animals naturally produce. Instead we should figure out what this compounds do instead of just trying to stir up drama for the sake of ratings.

Their is no andro in 6-OXO. 6-OXO is Bromodione or something related. Basically 6-OXO is a watered down prescription drug that is used by woman with breast cancer. Too much estrogen is produced by these women (or they are genetically pre-disposed to estrogen creating cancer) so bromodione (or its called something similar i forget) binds to the estrogen and kills it.

WHen used in men it does something similar, it binds and destroys or changes the estrogen. This is good for two reasons; one less estrogen is better for manly qualities and two; your body sees less estrogen in its body it can tell its levels but the body takes this as an indicator of low testosterone so it tells the body to produce more.

IN Mannys case its a complete cop out. Unless your either have a wasting disease or are coming off of steroids your testosterone levels wont be low enough for 6-OXO to have any really noticeable effect on your own test production. 6-Oxo works better on people with already low test, not healthy normal to high test producing peoeple.

The reason Ergopharm (the makers of 6-OXO) backed off is because they are skirting a fine line by using a watered down script but it has nothing to do with Andro.

Got something to say?
